Generally, Kuda Virtual Card is a VISA Card that can be used to make payment online where Visa/MasterCard is accepted in Nigeria. But you see the virtual dollar card is a card that's expected to be denominated in USD. Meanwhile, the USD card is not currently available on the Kuda Bank App.
The virtual Kuda Visa card works on Spotify, Netflix, Prime Video, Showmax and everywhere else naira Visa cards are accepted online - said Kuda on it official website.
I think Kuda once offered a virtual dollar card but not anymore. There was a time when Kuda allows Nigerians in the diaspora to open a UK (GBP) bank account. During that time, when an account is create, a virtual card denominated in GBP or USD will be attached to the account.
But as soon as Kuda deactivated the UK-based bank accounts for customers, the foreign currency denominated virtual card was also deactivated. That is to say, as of 2024, Kuda is not offering a virtual dollar card.
Notwithstanding, Kuda Bank is still offering two different kind of cards; physical debit card which can be shipped to your address with a card issuance fee and a logistics fee and virtual naira card. Both the Kuda debit card and virtual card are denominated in Naira and can be used online within Nigeria and not for international transactions.
In addition to the virtual Kuda Visa card functions, it is accepted on Spotify, Netflix, Prime Video, Google Play, Apple and Showmax. The Kuda Physical Card can also be used to carryout all these online transactions.
The only difference between Kuda virtual card its physical card is that the physical Kuda Visa card is a plastic bank card that you can use to withdraw cash from any ATM and POS in Nigeria. While the Virtual Kuda Visa Card is usually displayed on the Kuda app and it can only be used for online transaction. The Card details such as CVV, Card Number, and Expiration will be displayed in your Kuda dashboard under "Cards" section.
To request/get the Kuda Bank Virtual Dollar Card, follow the steps highlighted below:
- Login to your Kuda App and click on "Cards" at the bottom of your dashboard
- Next, click on "Request a Card" and choose "Get a Virtual Card"
- Now, confirm your request with your Kuda PIN or Fingerprint or Face ID
- Setup a Card PIN for your Virtual Card and click on "Submit" to submit the request.
The Card will be available in your Kuda Account Dashboard within 24 hour during business days. For weekends of holiday, it can take up 72 hours for the Kuda Virtual Card to be live in your dashboard. It's also important to know that the Kuda Virtual Card is free of charge and cost no dime. Meanwhile, the physical debit card cost an issuance fee of N1000 and a delivery fee which is varies depending on your location.
Furthermore, the Kuda Virtual Card Limit is set to N10,000 per transaction on default and you can only carryout transaction 10 times in a day. However, you can increase the card limit to N500,000 per transaction as displayed in the diagram below. In addition to the N500,000 limit increase, you can also carryout it the transaction 10X in a day.
To increase your Kuda Bank Virtual Card Limit, follow the steps highlighted below:
- Login to your Kuda Bank App and click on "Cards"
- Swipe left to "Virtual Card" and click on "Manage Card"
- Next, click on "Set Limit" and drag the Limit toggle to set a new limit.
Remember that you can increase your card limit from N10,000 to N500,000 per transaction and you have 10 times transactions per day no matter the current limit of the card.
It's also important to note that any transaction performed using the virtual visa card will be deducted from your Kuda Balance. So, make sure you have a sufficient funds in your Kuda Account to carryout card transaction as funding card separately is not allowed for Kuda Card.
