Many OPAY users have complained about the fintech shutting down and whether the company is having issues with the apex bank of Nigeria - CBN. However, it's true that major fintechs in Nigeria including OPAY had faced serious issues with CBN but that doesn't declare that OPAY is shutting down anytime soon.
Is OPAY Shutting Down
The claims regarding OPAY shutting down operations in Nigeria are false. Recent rumors circulated on social media suggested that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had announced the liquidation of OPAY.
However, both the CBN and OPAY have officially denied these claims. The CBN's Acting Director of Corporate Communications confirmed that the reports are fake, urging the public to disregard such misinformation.
In a nutshell, OPay is not shutting down any time soon and the mobile money app has also reassured its customers that their funds are secure and that the company continues to operate normally.
