Netflix to Discontinue Support on These iPhone and iPad Models

Any iPhones and iPads launched before those listed in this article will not be supported by Netflix
Apple and Netflix

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Apple launches new iPhone 16 models and Netflix decides to stop supporting a bunch of old iPhone models. The streaming platform announced that it will no longer support certain older iPhone models. It’s written in the stars for owners of the below iPhone models to buy a new iPhone.

It can be the latest iPhone 16 series or the last-gen iPhone 15 series which is still awesome. This could push users of the affected devices to upgrade their phones. The change also encourages owners of outdated models to make a switch. It’s a perfect opportunity for those looking to upgrade their tech while maintaining access to Netflix.

Netflix's Supported iOS and iPadOS

The latest version of Netflix mobile app now requires at least iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 as reported by 9to5Mac. This means that iPhones and iPads that don't support these operating systems won't be able to run the newest version of Netflix mobile app.

Any iPhones that don’t support these iOS 17 versions won’t be able to run the latest version of Netflix moving forward.

You may be able to use an older version still by not updating the app but that strategy won’t work for long. Eventually, Netflix will stop working on your iPhone/iPad. However, to avoid disruptions, it’s a good idea to take advantage of holiday deals and upgrade your device soon. Follow this guide to pre-order the iPhone 16 models at cheap rate before the official date.

Here is a list of iPhones that support iOS 17: iPhone X series and iPhone 8 series. The iPads that support iPadOS 17 include the iPad Pro 1st Gen and iPad 5. Meanwhile, do note that that any iPhones and iPads launched before the above list are automatically not supported.

iPhones that are not supported include the iPhone 7 series, iPhone 6 series, iPhone SE (1st Gen), and iPhone 5 series and older. iPads not supported are iPad Pro models before 1st Gen, iPad 4 and older, iPad Air (1st Gen), and iPad Mini 4 and older.
