How to turn off Google Assistant on SmartWatch
Disabling Google Assistant features on your Wear OS is one of the most simple things to do on a Smartwatch. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you on how to turn off Google Assistant features on your WearOS.
However, do note that we’ll be using Pixel Watch 3 to explain the guidelines in this article. The Google Assistant integration is not only available for WearOS smartwatches; it’s also available for the Google Pixel Watch 3 as well.
The Google Assistant is an incredible feature on Pixel Watch 3 and if for whatever reason you decide you don’t want to use this incredibly useful feature, just know that you can actually disable it with these step by step instructions:
1. Go-to “Quick Settings” Menu
On the homepage of your WearOS, navigate to the “quick settings.” This steps maybe different on various devices but Pixel Watch 3 will definitely guide you through how you can set this up on your first time using the smartwatch.
On many Wear OS, the “quick settings” works like the ones on smartphones. Which means that you can simply swipe down from the top angle of the screen to show the quick settings menu.
2. Access the “Settings” Option
On the “Quick Settings” menu, tap on “settings” icon. In case you don’t know the settings icon; it’s the logo that looks like a gear in between the alarm icon and battery level icon in the image above.
3. Navigate to “Google” Menu
On the “settings” page, scroll down to Google Menu and tap on it. On the Google Menu page, you’ll see some list of Google products such as “Assistant,” “Backup” option, “Google Accounts” option and more.
To disable “Google Assistant,” tap on “Assistant” and scroll down to tap on “Turn Off Assistant.”
After you tapped on the turn off assistant, you’ll be given a disclaimer about what will happen and what you won’t be able to do if you disable the assistant feature.
Disable the “Wake” Word
The wake feature is the reason many users want to disable the Google Assistant completely from their WearOS. If I tell you that you can turn off the wake word without disabling the Google Assistant on your smartwatch?
To do that, just navigate to the menu where you disabled the Google Assistant and you’ll see another three toggles of Google Assistant features. These toggles include “Hey Google” wake word and two others.
If you tap to turn off the “Hey Google” toggle, then you won’t be able to activate the Assistant when you says “Hey Google” just like other usually say “Hey Siri”.
Enabling Google Assistant on WearOS

- Swipe down your smartwatch “Quick Settings” menu.
- Tap “settings” icon and scroll down to “Google Menu.”
- On the Google’s Menu, tap on “Assistant”
- Tap on the “Assistant Toggle” to turn it on.
