How to get and use “original MPESA statement” in 2024
M-Pesa, the leading mobile money service in Kenya and East Africa at large, has a detailed guides in place to access your transaction history on the platform. If you want your transaction history whether for personal purposes or official uses (such as court uses), there’s a seamless way to retrieve it and this article will walk you through that way.
M-PESA Statement Online Service
M-PESA statement is a transaction report provided to registered users upon request. The M-PESA statement gives user detailed and stamped transaction reports for personal and official purposes.
The M-PESA transaction report can be downloaded online directly onto your phone and it can be sent to your Email address. Any which way you wish to get the statement online, you can easily use it to track your financial history without visiting a Safaricom shop.
In addition to access the statement online, it’s important to know that the M-PESA statement offers several advantages including self registration, on-demend access, financial reconciliation, and no need to visit a Safaricom Agent Shop. With all these advantages, M-PESA statements online in 2024 make this process even more convenient.
How to Download the M-PESA Statement Online
The M-PESA STATEMENT can be downloaded online via M-PESA App and via *334# USSD. Both options are free for all M-PESA users. They can also get the statement from any Safaricom shop nearby.
Let’s dive into the options of retrieving your M-PESA statement online:
Download with M-PESA Mobile App
Login to your M-PESA account using your PIN or Biometric activated on the account. If you’re not a mobile registered user, go-to Google Play Store(for Android) or iOS App Store (for iPhone), depending on your smartphone, to download and install the M-PESA app.
Once you’re in your account homepage dashboard, click on “M-PESA Statements” and click on “See All” to access all your transactions report. From there, you can then choose your preferred month or set a custom date for it.
If you’re setting a custom date, do not that you can only request statements for the last 1, 3, 6, or 12 and last 2 years. For records older than two years, you’ll need to visit the nearest Safaricom shop.
After you choose range of dates that’ll appear on statement, click on “Generate Statements” to download the M-PESA to your phone. The statement will be saved on your device in PDF form.
Download via M-PESA *334# USSD
The M-PESA USSD code is an USSD banking service powered by Safaricom for their MPESA customers in order for them to access various financial services on the platform simply by dialing the code *334#. This M-PESA code can also be used to download your transactions report (statements) on the fintech platform. Here’s how:
Dial the M-PESA *334# code using your registered phone number and choose “My Account” from the list of options that pops out. From the “My Account” options, choose “M-PESA Statements” and select your preferred range of date for the statement e.g month or custom. On the next pop out, enter your email address and confirm your request using your M-PESA PIN.
The M-PESA statements will be sent to the email address provided in PDF format. The USSD way of getting your statements is a quick and seamless process that ensures you can access your Mpesa statements online in 2024 with ease.
How to Use M-PESA Statements of Account
You can use M-PESA statements for court purposes, accessing statements of a deceased relative and for retrieving funds from a deceased relative’s account. Let’s break it down so that you can understand.
For Court Uses
If you need to use your M-PESA account statement in Court, do note that it must not have a "disclaimer" like the regular statements downloaded online. Hence, to get an M-PESA statement without a disclaimer, you'll need to visit any nearby "Safaricom shop" and fill in a "Civil Disputes Statement Request Form".
However, it's important to also note that M-PESA statements without a disclaimer are limited to civil cases only, not criminal matters. You'll be required to provide your national means of identification and clarify the purpose of the statement before the statement can be released to you.
For Accessing a Deceased Relative's M-PESA Statements
Accessing the statements of a deceased relative usually requires legal documentation. In other words, to access a deceased relative's bank statements, you'll need a death certificate, proof of relationship, and legal authorization like a will or court order.
These policies are also applicable to M-PESA user that want to access a deceased relative bank statement. In other words, you'll submit your original ID card, a death certificate of the relative, a court affidavit document showing your relationship with the person, a proceeding (permit) letter from the county chief or administration and a handwritten letter showing yours and the deceased's M-PESA account details such as account number and full legal name.
After you gather these documents and information, visit any nearby Safaricom shop and submit the documents for processing. Once your request is granted, you can then withdraw funds from the deceased relative’s M-PESA account. However, you'll to submit additional documents to process the funds withdrawal.
For amounts above KSh 30,000, you'll need to submit the deceased original Death Certificate and a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration. For amounts below KSh 30,000, your valid ID card, the deceased's death certificate and a letter from the local chief would be required. Upon approval of these fillings, the deceased's funds will be transferred to your M-PESA account within 72 hours.
